About the Band
From the beginning, Wood Belly has followed the songs, cultivating a distinct sound rooted in American roots music, original songwriting, and rich vocal harmony.
Winners of the 2018 Telluride Bluegrass Band Competition and nominees for the IBMA Momentum Band of the Year award, Wood Belly has established a celebrated presence in the Colorado and national bluegrass community.
Today, founder and frontman Chris Weist (mandolin) carries that musical legacy forward with Wood Belly String Band, joined by Sam Patterson (guitar), Corey Clark (banjo), Evan Hoatson (Dobro), and Jayden Kazantsev (upright bass).
Moving between hard-driving bluegrass and intimate, reflective ballads, the renewed five-piece delivers a dynamic performance anchored by melody, thoughtful arrangements, and a shared commitment to the power of a good song.
